I'm Kristy, the founder of La Douceur.
I'm a Sydney-based artist and communications professional, currently on maternity leave with my third child.
In 2024, I sold 30 original oil paintings over six months. As life became busier, I stepped away from oils and started working with oil pastels, which allowed me to keep creating in smaller pockets of time.
That’s where La Douceur began.
Collection I is a series of original works inspired by everyday objects. I didn't begin the collection with a particular story in mind. I simply painted the things I found myself returning to.
Looking back, I can see the collection captured that season of my life without me ever intending it to.
Around the time I first became a mother, my mum was diagnosed with posterior cortical atrophy. Those two experiences unfolded alongside one another, and they changed the way I noticed everyday life. I think that's why I keep returning to the everyday in my work.
I hope these works find homes where they're loved for many years.
